It’s great reading about benefits and features and reasons to do something, but I find it much more helpful to have examples of how things have worked for people.  So here are the experiences of a couple of clients …

M came with very severe pain in her neck and upper back, numbness and tingling in her hands and chronic migraines.  She has suffered for a number of years with these symptoms and I was a last resort.  To begin with she could only bear very, very gentle work on her neck and shoulders – less than the weight of my hands.  After the first session though she reported that the pain was less than usual and that she had the best nights sleep she’d had for ages.

The treatment before last she felt her neck was too painful to work on so I concentrated on her upper back and shoulders for 40 minutes.  She texted me a couple of days later to say that while she had been shopping, her neck had clicked and released and the pain had completely gone!  She was one happy lady.

She now feels that her condition is much more manageable and plans to come fortnightly to ensure she stays in this condition.

Everyone is different, but this case is a perfect example of the cumulative effect of massage.  By going gently and carefully, I was able to persuade her tissues to let go in their own time and the neck issue gently and painlessly adjusted itself.  Massage adds up over time, which is why I recommend a few treatments close together – such as a series of 4 in 4-5 weeks (such as this lady had) – to kick-start the changes.

C is a bricklayer and first came after Christmas because he “always has a bad back”.  After the first session he reported feeling much looser and freer and that his back was completely pain-free, the first time for weeks.

He returned 2 weeks later and again began with stiff, sore muscles and ended feeling loose and completely comfortable.  Another 2 weeks and he came in in pain because he had been for a week snowboarding and that had caused him trouble as usual.  But not as much as in previous years it seems.  After that session he was almost back to normal again.

Last time – his forth treatment – 2 weeks since I last saw him, he felt great when he got off the table and commented “I need this every night after work, I feel fantastic”.  He has booked again for 4 weeks – which is the usual maintenance I recommend – and we’ll see how he goes.  It might prove that he needs to come a little more frequently due to the nature of his work, but I’ll only suggest that if I feel he needs it – 4 weeks works well for the vast majority of my clients.

I hope that these examples are helpful in seeing how I work with clients and what is possible with massage.  If you feel I might be able to help you or someone you know, a phone call costs nothing.  Give me a call on 07836 545 382.
