Case studies are very useful because it’s sometimes hard to see how massage will actually benefit you from a list of good-sounding things.

I have a lady client who had a car accident where the impact was from behind at about 45 mph.  She saw the vehicle coming so was tensed up and ready for the impact. She suffered whiplash injuries in her back, neck and shoulders and down into her hips and legs too because of how her body folded up where it was held in by her seatbelt.

She had been on high-strength pain meds – the maximum daily dose – for months before coming to see me and I was “her last resort”.

The first treatment in cases such as this is always a tricky balance for me as I want people to feel the improvement immediately but not to feel sore afterwards.  I worked very gently and she reported the first pain-free night’s sleep for months that night!  Really encouraging.

Over the next few treatments I worked gradually more deeply but still gently and she improved consistently.  After 3 sessions she was on half the pain meds compared to when she first came to me.  Now – after about 6 sessions she regularly uses no pain meds at all.

These results are quite typical in my experience.  By continuing treatment she will eventually experience virtually no pain at all and her energy and mood will continue to improve too.

Massage works. If you – or someone you know – are suffering with pain, there is hope …
