Massage will improve your energy
I saw a new client this week who is dealing with Fibromyalgia. Alongside the horrible symptoms of this condition, it seems to be debilitating – the person’s energy is low and quickly depleted.
True to form, she reported feeling very low energy when she came in.
After the treatment, as she was walking around the room, I asked her how her energy was now. “I feel a bit less tired” she said. I asked her what her energy level was now … “About 7 out of 10” she replied, then she paused and thought and said “it was about 4 when I came in here!”.
So – her energy level had almost doubled as a result of the treatment.
The other thing we both noticed was that she was walking quite slowly around the couch – walking slowly but with twice the energy from when she arrived, moving fast and busy
I see this a lot in clients with all sorts of reasons for coming for massage and I experience it myself regularly.
Massage release energy for you. A massage cannot give you extra energy, but by having a massage all your muscles soften and loosen, the body doesn’t hold them tense anymore and this releases energy which means we feel as if we have more energy.
It also often seems to slow the energy down, resulting in this apparent paradox of feeling lots more energy but moving more slowly.
I use an analogy to explain this to clients. Moving fast, being busy, rushing around is like the energy of petrol burning. It burns hot, quickly and is exhausted fast. It burns up and is gone, leaving little behind. Another type of energy is like molten lava – it moves slowly, it flows smoothly along, but it flows over and around everything in it’s path. It just keeps going.
And that is the energy that clients often feel after a treatment. They feel slower but with more energy and they get through their day more slowly, smoothly and arrive at the end with energy left over, having accomplished everything they wanted and still feeling ok.
If this is something you would like to experience for yourself – whether or not you have a “problem” – massage can deliver that for you. Get in touch and I’ll explain more.
